Dublin City Historical Tour
As a 7th Generation Dubliner, I’m deeply immersed in her history, her culture, and her community. Dublin is a fascinating place, and the best way to get to know the city is to walk her streets, hear the sounds, taste the culinary delights, and savour the views and vistas of Ireland’s capital city.
From the Stone Age fish traps found in the River Liffey, to the monastic settlement which attracted the Vikings, the Viking and Anglo-Norman City,
the Medieval and later British centre of control in Ireland, to today’s Dublin, vibrant capital city of the modern Ireland, proudly playing a leading role on both the European and the World stages, this is a tour you can’t miss !
Vikings, Pirates, and Rock Stars
This spectacular walking tour takes you to the southern end of Dublin Bay, to the beautiful Heritage Town of Dalkey, nestling between the hills and the Irish Sea. The walking tour takes you along the winding main street, laid out at the time of the Vikings, down along the coast towards the harbour at Coliemore, known as the main port of all Ireland from around 1200AD to about 1600AD. From there, we visit Sorrento Terrace, also known as “Millionaires Row”, with an option to stroll up along the Vico Rd with its spectacular views over Killiney Bay. If you’re feeling energetic, climb Dalkey Hill for one of the most stunning views on the East Coast of Ireland.
Along the way, learn about some of Dalkey’s most famous residents, past and present, with the opportunity to stop for lunch in one of the local hostelries. Keep you eyes open, you never know who might drop in !
Custom Walking Tours
I can also design a Custom Walking Tour, in Dublin or anywhere in Ireland, with particular emphasis on a number of themes, from musical and literary to historical, maritime, Irish language and place name interests.
Let me know what you’re interested an, and I’ll do the rest !
